Group Summary (Alex) This week, we had some fruit roll-ups provided by me. Then when Mr. Gotliffe came around we discussed with him a little bit about the book. We talked about characters in the book and compared it with other zombie references. Jason then discussed about his quotes and Scott asked his questions and we discussed about the answers. Group Summary: Jason Just like last week, we did not have a lot of food. Nobody was really happy about that. We had few sucking candies and some peanut butter bars from Alex. Nick had some gum that we had to practically fight for. Scott read us his 5 quotes and we discussed why they were important. This weeks topic was language, so we talked about how the language of the book is very military oriented. He uses military time, talks about military weapons, and other military terms. We decided the book was an 8th grade level book because there is foul language and it is a little too advanced for other ages. 8th grade is a fair grade for this book. Since nick did not post questions we did not answer them but we did talk about what happened in the section. We discussed whats going on and predicted what could happen next.

He was also a pilot for the army and so he uses some military words. He also uses some profanity but not too much. Overall, the book is easy to read and the language is simple English.

The emotion in the book is gloomy because there are zombies everywhere and people are dying everywhere. It is intense at most points and never really gets dull.

He knows what it feels to be in a zombie Apocalypse, and feels its necessary to save them.

Yes, he was in great danger because William accidentally attracted a horde of zombies.

He knows by now that zombies wouldn't do something like that if there was no life in it. He figured someone was in the car.

She is weak and dehydrated and he feels like he needs to really rescue her. And she joins their little group.

Summary: Scott Today, our book club went pretty well. Although, no one remembered to bring food and Nick wouldn't share his gum with us, we got a lot done on the wiki space. Alex wrote the questions the night before book club so when we go to class the questions were already there. We immediately started answering the questions. The questions were very good because they were long and broad, so instead of answering the questions with one word, we answered them with sentences and sentences since they were open-ended. Jason was leader in book club this week. He did a good job in keeping our discussion on topic and answering Alex's questions on the book. Jason definitely made the book club a lot more productive and I think that we all got a lot out of it. Nick forgot to do the quotes, but he promised us that he will do them over the week and the our book club will up to date and completed so far. This was probably one of our best book clubs yet since everyone did their reading and understood all the questions and our discussion on the book.

What are some of the images that are used?
Most of the images that are used in the book are lifeless, quiet, and hopeless scenes that are spread out and and dark.
What do they seem to represent?
The scenes are meant to represent how John and the family he is with are the only living humans left on earth and there is no hope left.
Why do you think the author uses these images to convey his or her meaning?
He uses these images to make the story more dramatic and lifeless.

The radio active blast killed only the ones near the heat, but the radiactive-ness killed the decaying bacteria in the zombies so they don't decay.
